An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a leading UK civil engineerin contractor at the forefront of delivering complex, high profile infrastructure projects nationwide. With a reputation for innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence, this business is currently expanding its North East operations and is looking for a talented Design Manager to join their team.
The Design Manager will join and experience team and will be responsible for taking the reins on a major, multi-million-pound infrastructure project in Durham. They will be responsible for managing the design process through pre-construction and delivery phases, ensuring the seamless integration of technical, operational, and commercial requirements. They will work closely with a talented in-house team, design consultants, and key stakeholders to deliver design solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with programme demands.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the design management process on a high-profile civil engineering project.
* Manage the interface between temporary and permanent works designs.
* Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to ensure design deliverables meet project milestones.
* Review and interrogate technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
* Drive value engineering initiatives and innovative solutions.
* Manage design risk and change control processes effectively.
* Ensure designs are compliant with current legislation, standards, and client requirements.
Candidate
* Proven experience as a Design Manager within the civil engineering / infrastructure sector.
* Strong understanding of temporary and permanent works coordination.
* Demonstrable track record of managing design on large, complex projects.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams.
* Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (HND/Degree).

* Starting salary up to circa £75,000 per annum
