The Data Protection Manager is part of the Data Protection team which sits in the Legal & Compliance function. Your main responsibility will be the delivery of Asda’s data protection impact assessment programme. This will include working closely with teams across the organisation, reviewing information about new projects, documenting impact assessments and identifying associated risks and controls. You will work closely with another Data Protection Manager and will be supported by a Data Protection Lawyer whenever needed.
This is a 12 month fixed term maternity cover.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Day to day management of data protection impact assessments
* Acting as the primary point of contact for the business for these assessments and giving day to day data protection advice.
* Reviewing information provided as part of assessments and liaising with business units to collate complete and accurate data.
* Understanding complex processing activities and recording them clearly and logically in OneTrust.
* Tracking the progress of a large number of assessments, ensuring completions within required timescales and reporting on metrics.
* Periodically reviewing and maintaining ROPAs
* Contributing to audits and assurance activity and the continuous improvement of Asda’s privacy framework.
* Supporting the assessment and management of data protection incidents and breaches.
* Line manager responsibility for one colleague (who handles subject access requests).
* Helping maintain and improve data protection policies, standards and guidance.

We’re looking for the following skills and experience:
* Previous experience working in a data protection role.
* Recognised data protection certifications e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT
* You should have plenty of experience in completing DPIAs from start to finish.
* Line management experience is preferred, but not essential.
* Attention to detail and the ability to work well as a team player.
* An ability to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic business where working at pace is required.
* A willingness to offer ideas and solutions to the ever-changing needs of the team and business.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate with other team members.
* Being digitally savvy and comfortable using Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word and PowerPoint and learning how to use new software.
* Knowledge of how to use OneTrust is preferable, but not essential.
* An ability to manage a large workload with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
* A keen problem solver with the ability to identify and suggest operational improvements.
* Great interpersonal skills and willingness to reach out to colleagues and key stakeholders across the business.
