Our Client is a market leading packaging solutions supplier in the UK. They provide their clients with a full range of corrugated packaging polythene films, tapes, strapping, protective and transit packaging etc.
They are currently recruiting for a technically adept Area Sales / Account Manager to join their sales team to cover the East territory (Wakefield, York over to Scarborough. You will be responsible for driving growth across your territory, predominately managing accounts and also winning new business and promoting the company single source packaging solutions while balancing price, service and margin to deliver high results.
The role is approx 80% account management & 20% new business
Key Responsibilities:
1. Current Turnover: Circa 1M+ of happy, long standing accounts
2. Plan and prioritise sales activity to exceed monthly and annual targets
3. Build and maintain new business growing a strong new business pipeline
4. Promote the benefits of single-source packaging supply & demonstrate the value it brings
5. Manage pricing, margins, and service to achieve gross profit targets
6. Spot & secure new opportunities using market knowledge while growing existing accounts
7. Accurately record and maintain sales activity and pipeline data
8. Work closely with your Sales Coordinator to share updates on prospects and progress
9. Monitor competitor activity and report insights
10. Support marketing and training initiatives including product launches, exhibitions, and campaigns
Requirements:
11. Proven field sales background, ideally within packaging distribution or solution-based consultative sales
12. Packaging knowledge (corrugated, polythene films, adhesive tapes, strapping) is advantageous but not essential
13. Ability to build relationships at multiple levels within SMEs and large organisations
14. World class account management, highly technically adept with ability to structure deals not just go for a flat profitability rate (ie rebates, product engineering, tiered discounts etc)
15. Ideally AI literate and sees the value in this
16. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
17. A-level education (or equivalent) minimum
18. A proactive opportunity-spotter with a consistent record of new business success
19. Tenacious, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
20. Positive, solutions-focused mindset
21. A team player with the confidence to work independently when needed
