The role
The Cost Controller is responsible for assisting in managing the project’s financial performance, monitoring costs, forecasting accurately, and ensuring expenses stay within approved budgets. They serve as the primary contact for reporting financial performance to the Programme management team and customer. The role involves developing methodologies and systems to track and control project-related expenses.
Working on the T31 CIP Programme, which involves scope refinement and expansion, the role requires proactive financial control to support strategic decisions and resource allocation throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
* Ensuring project expenditures align with budgets and commitments, identifying potential overruns early, and maintaining budget forecasts and cost reports.
* Monitoring actual expenditure, flagging variances, and working with the PCM and Financial Manager to implement cost control systems ensuring accuracy in cost recording.
* Preparing regular financial performance reports for stakeholders.
* Maintaining the programme Estimate at Completion (EAC), conducting trend analysis, and risk assessments.
* Providing relevant and reliable financial status and forecast reports throughout the CIP.
This position is based onsite in Rosyth, with an option to work four days a week.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance. Some roles require national security clearance and are subject to restrictions based on nationality, citizenship, and residency.
