At Connect2Hackney, the internal talent team for Hackney Council, we are looking for an experienced IT Operations Manager to join our ICT & Workplace Services division. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the operational delivery of ICT services to over 5,000 users across all council sites. The Role As the IT Operations Manager, you will be part of the ICT Senior Management Team, directly influencing our IT strategy and ensuring our core technology operations remain highly available and functional. You will manage the "cradle-to-grave" lifecycle of all hardware, from procurement to secure, environmentally responsible decommissioning. Key Responsibilities: Service Excellence: Manage and optimise ITIL-based workflows (Incident, Request, Change, and Problem Management) to ensure high service availability and user satisfaction. Endpoint Management: Oversee the supply, build, and support of the council's hardware estate, including laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. Vendor & Budget Leadership: Act as the primary contact for third-party vendors and ISPs, managing complex contracts and multi-million pound budgets to ensure value for money. Security & Compliance: Lead vulnerability management programs, ensuring all devices are patched against the latest threats and that disaster recovery plans are tested and robust. Team Leadership: Directly lead and motivate the IT hardware team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous service improvement. What We Are Looking For We need a commercially astute leader with deep technical knowledge who can translate strategic priorities into clear, outcome-focused objectives. Your Experience & Skills: Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Google Admin (ChromeOS/Android), Jamf Pro (Apple), and Manage Engine Endpoint Central. Systems Management: Experience in custom software packaging (MSI, PKG) and designing automated patching cycles. Qualifications: You should be an ITIL Practitioner (or equivalent) with a proven track record of managing ICT operations in a large, complex organisation. Strategic Thinking: The ability to turn business requirements into operational solutions while managing risks and mitigation. Communication: A confident communicator able to present complex IT matters to diverse audiences and collaborate across all levels of the organisation. Why Hackney?
