Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
Full or part-time hours are available, with a shift pattern from Monday to Friday. Salaries are pro-rata for part-time hours.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Protection Nurse Advisor to join NHS GGC's Public Protection Service. The role involves promoting a high-quality, safe, and effective public protection service and supporting the NHS GGC Public Protection Strategy – Safeguarding – It Matters to Us. We seek candidates eager to be part of a dynamic, developing team of Public Protection Nurse Advisors, who were highly commended at the RCN Scotland team of the year awards in 2023. The service provides expert advice, support, and guidance to NHS GGC staff on Public Protection matters. The post holder will provide clinical leadership, specialist advice, support, and case supervision to a diverse range of staff. Collaboration across professions and agencies, along with evidence-based decision-making, is essential.
The team includes the Chief Nurse, Head of Public Protection Service, Public Protection Lead Nurses (Child and Adult Support and Protection), Lead Pediatrician for Child Protection, Public Protection Medical Lead, and administrative staff. While based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, training and clinical supervision are conducted across NHS GGC sites.
Applicants must be Registered Nurses or Midwives with a first-level degree, at least five years of post-qualification experience, and evidence of postgraduate master's level study. A postgraduate qualification in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection, or relevant experience, is required. Substantial experience working with children, young people, families, or vulnerable adults, along with knowledge of relevant policies and legislation, is essential. Willingness to undertake further study in child and adult protection is also desirable.
