Join us as our next SHE Training Manager to lead the national Safety, Health & Environment training strategy for Heidelberg Materials UK. This pivotal role provides strategic leadership, governance and professional oversight to ensure all SHE training is compliant, high‑quality and aligned with operational risk and industry standards. You will shape and govern the UK‑wide training framework, driving capability development, behavioural improvement and a culture of continuous learning. With responsibility for supporting approximately 3,600 employees, you will oversee the performance of multiple external training providers delivering large‑scale national programmes, ensuring consistency, value and technical excellence. Although the role has no direct reports, it demands strong influential leadership and close collaboration with operational, SHE and training teams to strengthen SHE performance and drive continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Governance Lead the national SHE training strategy and standards Influence behavioural improvement and technical excellence Manage governance of external training providers Represent the organisation within MPQC and industry groups Training Planning & Capability Development Oversee national planning and delivery of SHE training Maintain training matrices to ensure legal compliance Develop blended learning, e‑learning and training catalogues Lead SHE apprenticeships and capability programmes Digital Learning Systems Own and develop the Learning Management System (LMS) Lead system integration, testing and user training Embed new digital learning systems across the business Provider & Vendor Management Manage external providers, contract performance and compliance Partner with procurement on sourcing and cost optimisation Performance & Reporting Produce KPI reporting on compliance, delivery and financials Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control Ensure data accuracy across all learning systems Legislative & Technical Assurance Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SHE and training legislation Act as technical authority to Senior SHE Leadership Ensure alignment with NOS, IMS and MPA Safety by Competence standards Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Communicate training priorities and updates across the business Work with T&D colleagues on internal communications Engage senior leaders to align training with SHE risk and strategy People & Provider Support Coach internal and external trainers Support wider Training and SHE teams as needed Education & Qualifications Minimum 3 years' experience in SHE training management PTLLS/PGCE or proven experience in training design and delivery NEBOSH or IEMA Certificate (Diploma desirable) IOSH or IEMA membership Why Join us?
