We are currently seeking experienced Wipers to join BALEARIA RoRo Passenger ferries.
Key Details
* Embarkation: ASAP
* Contract duration: 4 months ± 1 month
* Vessel type: RoRo Passenger (Ro/Pax)
Requirements
* Proven experience as an AB on RoRo Passenger vessels.
* All valid and up-to-date certificates, including Ro/Pax certification in accordance with STCW Regulation V/2.
* Mandatory certification for ABs: STCW Regulation III/4, PSCRB, and AFF.
Position Summary
* Responsible for carrying out daily maintenance and cleaning of engine spaces, machinery, and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge.
Reporting Structure
* Reports to the First Engineer and the on‑duty Engineer.
Safety Duties
* Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
* Must always comply with the Company's safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
* Leads by example by taking care of health and safety of self and others.
* Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are used correctly.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
* Valid STCW 95 certification.
* Valid Engine Watch Rating certification A‑III/4.
* Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
* Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
* Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
* Physically and medically fit.
* Moral integrity required.
Language Requirements
Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. Additional languages are beneficial.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Required to stand, walk long distances, reach and sit. Repetitive motion of bending, stair climbing, ladder climbing. Lifting or pushing up to 50 lb. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room and engine spaces with noise, light traffic, and distracting environments.

Key Responsibilities
* Performs cleaning and painting of various machinery, equipment and engine room spaces.
* Assists Engineers and senior ratings with the following (not limited to):
o Overhauls of engines and auxiliaries.
o Pumps.
o Welding.
o Operating lathe machines.
o Carrying out most steelwork and pipe fittings.
o Continuously supervises and inspects machinery spaces during working hours and promptly reports deficiencies or malfunctions to the Staff Engineer and on‑duty engineer.
* Prevents spares and tools from being damaged due to poor handling.
* Participates in the technical loading team during intake of provisions.
* Provides technical assistance during the ship’s tendering operations.
* Assists with general maintenance (e.g., cleaning, painting, repairs).
* Keeps the Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer and duty Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems, any issues that may compromise the ship’s safety, and any deficiencies found in machinery or equipment.
* Competent in using the internal communications systems and knowledgeable of the Engine Room alarms.
* Informs the on‑duty Engineer whenever leaving the engine room to perform duties elsewhere.
* Keeps supervisors informed of the progress of any work undertaken and any defects or problems in his allocated area of responsibility.
* Responsible for keeping the engine room and all other machinery areas clean, along with all parts and tools used.
* Accountable for ensuring that company, public health, national and international standards are maintained and that the ship complies with them.
* Observes and enforces uniform and grooming standards according to company policies.
* Ensures that other team members are informed and updated on occurrences during the watch.
* Practices good people management, maintaining proper conduct within the Engine department and other departments around the ship.
* General engine room and other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Salary and rotation terms refer to the contract. Rating is available upon contract.
NOTE: All ratings on board are in shared cabins.
