We are recruiting a Design Engineer / Drafter for our client who specializes in turning shipping containers into functional, creative, and bespoke spaces (Industrial/Commercial and Residential).
With a large in-house production facility and recent investment in direct sales and marketing capability, we are looking for the right individual to support the Container Conversion team with design and technical drawings to suit our customers' varied requirements and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Draft general assembly layouts & plans for client approval using AutoCAD and Inventor.
2. Specify project requirements at component and subcomponent levels, source parts, and compile bills of materials when necessary.
3. Complete full technical fabrication, lining, and electrical layout production drawings.
4. Compile technical/product support documentation (Datasheets, COSH, Manuals) as required.
5. Support and advise in-house or sub-contractor staff involved in project delivery (electrical, mechanical, civils trades).
6. Attend customer sites to meet with clients, suppliers, or subcontractors as needed.
7. Assist in compiling technical documentation for tender submissions.
About You
1. Experience using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, ideally in ISO container fabrication.
2. Engineering or relevant educational background.
3. Ability to produce, read, and understand technical manufacturing drawings.
4. Proven record of accomplishment in drafting and Design to Manufacture (DTM).
5. Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
It's Great, But Not Required, If You Have
1. Knowledge or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, especially in metal fabrication or construction industry.
2. Understanding of H&S requirements in a construction or fabrication environment.
3. Knowledge of Building Regulations.
4. Experience in project support or project management.
5. Exposure to modular construction techniques.
6. Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing systems.
