Job Description: Joiner/Carpenter Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust Nottingham City Hospital, Hucknall Road, NG5 1PB 37.5hrs per week working Monday to Friday 8am–4pm Band 4 £12.86 per hour We are seeking a skilled and motivated Joiner to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to maintaining and improving our facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff, patients, and visitors. As a Joiner, you will undertake a range of construction, maintenance, and minor new works, applying your expertise to woodworking projects across the Trust. You will work independently and as part of a small team, using your judgement and problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality results. This role will occasionally require physical effort and concentration on unpredictable tasks in a fast-paced environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your carpentry expertise in a supportive NHS environment where your work directly contributes to patient care and safety. Temporary placement which could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate. Work carried out will include: · Carry out joinery maintenance work across the Trust. · Use woodworking tools and machinery competently and safely. · Inspect and maintain fire doors and fire compartmentation (if certified). · Plan and organise straightforward tasks, including coordinating with Ward Managers for redecoration projects. · Complete timesheets, work records, and reports using computer-based systems. What we’re looking for: · NVQ Level 2 qualified or equivalent. · Proven experience in construction and joinery maintenance in large organisations. · Competent in using woodworking tools and machinery. · Ability to make judgements and problem solve building fabric defects. · Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. · Organised and able to plan day-to-day work and straightforward projects. · Physically fit and able to carry out demanding manual tasks.
