Position Overview The Dental Assistant - Casual plays a vital role in supporting the Dental Services team by performing both clinical and administrative duties under supervision. This position ensures the provision of high-quality dental care and efficient service delivery to patients. As a Dental Assistant, you will be responsible for managing appointment schedules, liaising with clients, and assisting in clinical procedures while maintaining professional standards. Candidate Profile We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for dental health and community service. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary qualifications and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent accreditation. Experience in a cross-cultural environment, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. (An Advantage) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of infection control principles and administrative processes. Selection Criteria SC 1 Minimum of Certificate III in Dental Assisting. SC 2 Demonstrated experience working within a cross-cultural environment and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. SC 3 Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of primary health care and the social, economic and cultural factors affecting the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. SC 4 Sound awareness and understanding of infection control principles. SC 5 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team structure. SC 6 Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of contemporary human resource management practices including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Antidiscrimination.
