Principal Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist (General Medicine)
An exciting and interesting opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Clinical, Counselling or Health psychologist to join the General Medicine Psychology team within the Clinical Health Psychology Department at Salford Royal Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Support the Consultant Lead Psychologist to provide senior leadership, supervision and support for the general medicine psychology team.
* Triage and assess referrals from 15 medical specialisms.
* Lead service delivery for complex cases within the general medicine service.
* Develop links with specialist nurses, medical teams, specialist groups and 3rd sector agencies.
* Develop teaching for the university ClinPsyD Programmes, Health psychology course and IAPT training.
* Contribute to clinical pathways and development of business cases to maintain capacity for the rapidly growing service.
* Provide specialist assessment and treatment recommendations for individuals accessing the service.
* Manage referrals, maintain outpatient clinical psychology waiting lists and caseload.
* Line manage an assistant psychologist where needed and provide specialist supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc Psychology degree or equivalent (recognised by the British Psychological Society).
* British Psychological Society Accredited Doctoral Degree in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology.
* Training in supervision of psychological therapies and third‑wave psychological therapies.
* Accreditation as a Supervisor for Psychology and/or Psychotherapy (desirable).
* Experience working as a qualified psychologist with substantial post‑qualification experience in a physical health setting.
* Experience of specialist psychological/psychotherapeutic assessments and treatments for severe, enduring and complex presentations and/or trauma.
* Experience providing teaching, training and clinical supervision within a healthcare setting.
* Experience delivering therapeutic interventions in various formats, including individual and group.
* Experience supervising qualified psychologists and/or psychological therapists and other staff working in physical health settings.
* Excellent organisational and data management skills.
* Knowledge of the HCPC registration requirements for the advertised role.
