Location: Finsbury Park, North London
Salary: £60-80k, 5 days per week, full‑time
Overview
Maytree is a sanctuary that offers a transformative 4‑night stay for those in suicidal crisis. Through respite, reflection and compassionate care, our Volunteer Befrienders and staff team support hope and resilience. Values – trust, respect, openness, empathy, non‑judgement, equity – guide all actions.
Responsibilities
 * Report to the Co‑Chairs and Trustees.
 * Collaborate with Co‑Chairs to formulate strategy, business plans and goals.
 * Own the Maytree model in partnership with Lead Befrienders.
 * Deliver the model with its culture and values, achieving set goals.
 * Lead the day‑to‑day team of Lead Befrienders, overseeing referrals, assessments and befriending, and supervising Volunteer Befrienders, including reflective practice and professional supervision.
 * Manage house administration, volunteer resources, fundraising, finance, IT support, media/external relations and recruit staff as needed.
Person specification
Essential
 * Passionate commitment to Maytree’s model, vision, culture and values.
 * Resilient and resourceful, able to hold risk.
 * Prior training in a mental health profession and/or significant volunteer experience befriending the suicidal.
 * Compassion, empathy, calm, containment; a good listener.
 * General management experience covering business functions.
 * Leadership skills: team player, collaborative style of trust, openness, support.
 * Excellent communication skills in multiple contexts, e.g. with funders, referral partners, external events.
Desirable
 * Qualification in psychotherapy, psychoanalytic understanding or academic background in mental health.
 * Experience training and supervising volunteers.
 * Corporate Governance.
 * Fundraising.
 * Established networks in suicide prevention, NHS, third sector, funders.
 * Experience addressing audiences at conferences, media and fundraising events.
