Student Bank HCSW

The closing date is 27 June 2025

Child branch student nurse who is in their 2nd or 3rd year student nurse training

Mental Health branch student nurse who is in their 2nd or 3rd year student nurse training

Midwifery student who is in their 2nd or 3rd year of training

Are you able to support teams at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, utilising your current knowledge and skills, in order to provide the highest standards of care to our women, infant, children and young people?

We are currently recruiting bank health care support workers to join the Birmingham Women's and Children's Trust bank, to work at both the Women's and Children's Hospital sites, if you have the relevant skills and experience, we will welcome your application.

To apply you must have =

Completed your first year and have this signed off at university, and commenced second year.

Actively continuing with your student training.

Not undergoing any fitness for practice investigations

Main duties of the job

To support in the delivery of high standards of nursing care in partnership with women, children, young people and families in a safe and professional environment.

To care for a defined group of patients, this could be women & children requiring assistance with daily activities. The HCSW role may at times be required to extend to cover the duties of House Keepers, if service requires. All duties always will be indirectly supervised by a registered practitioner.

As an organisation we are committed to ensuring all areas have staffing numbers and skill mix to deliver safe quality care to all our women, children and young people. This means that staff groups may be asked to move to other areas at short notice by a senior manager to ensure safe delivery of care.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* University Student Nurse Paediatric or Mental health field/ Midwife.


Knowledge

* Knowledge of safeguarding & confidentiality issues
* You will have completed twelve months of study at university
* Commenced second year
* Experience at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital


ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS

* Be able to escalate problems when required and report back to supervising practitioner
* Able to recognise limitations
* Able to carry out instructions with diligence and accuracy, reporting back as required


PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

* Excellent verbal and listening communication skills Able to work well in a team, work reliably and safely under indirect supervision
* Be able to use initiative and common sense
* Must have high level of self-motivation and desire to succeed
* Able to organise own workload. Be able to use initiative and common sense
* Able to use email and access internet without instruction
