About Us
Claire at Amber Mace is working with a children's care provider specializing in therapeutic residential care for children and young people affected by Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and other trauma. Their services focus on compassion, safety, and helping vulnerable young people recover and rebuild their lives.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and emotionally resilient Children's Home Manager to lead the Shrewsbury-based home, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, trauma-informed care for children who have experienced significant harm.
The Role
As the Registered Manager, you will oversee the leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of a specialist children's home within our wider CSE services. You will lead a dedicated team in providing structured, therapeutic care for young people, many of whom may present with complex trauma, high-risk behaviors, and safeguarding concerns.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide compassionate leadership and ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations.
* Create and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children affected by CSE and abuse.
* Recruit, supervise, and develop a high-performing team of care staff and deputy managers.
* Lead safeguarding, care planning, and risk management efforts to protect young people.
* Collaborate with social workers, clinical teams, local authorities, and external agencies.
* Embed therapeutic approaches in daily practice and ensure staff are trauma-informed.
* Manage budgets, resources, and regulatory compliance.
* Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections, audits, and reviews.
* Promote young people's rights, voice, and participation in their care and recovery.
Essential Requirements
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* At least 2 years of experience managing or deputizing in a children's residential setting.
* Deep understanding of CSE, trauma-informed care, and safeguarding.
* Experience working with high-risk young people with complex behavioral needs.
* Ability to motivate and lead a team in high-pressure, emotionally challenging environments.
* Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and Ofsted frameworks.
* Enhanced DBS clearance and right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
* Therapeutic training or qualifications (e.g., PACE, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy).
* Experience supporting homes through Ofsted inspections with a Good or Outstanding rating.
* First aid, medication, and health & safety training.
