A brand new career opportuity has been created here in our thriving East Cowes Centre of Excellence for a suitably skilled and experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager to head up our F&M Team.
Reporting into the site Manufacturing Engineering Director, the successful candidate will be accountable for building the capability of both sites to ensure assets never impact the operations schedule. This will be achieved by deploying the One Aerospace strategy, including standardisation, training, coaching and implementing best practices.
They will promote GKN’s technical capability globally to the internal technical community, as well as leading and steering the development of the Industrial strategy, following a robust framework to deploy the appropriate technologies to our multi-site operational needs, responding to current and future market changes.
This role also manages the Estates (including Security) and Tooling MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) functions.
Job Responsibilities
1. Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance to the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
2. Manage a multi-disciplined team to plan and perform asset maintenance to deliver incremental improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
3. In collaboration with Continuous Improvement Function partners, accountable for deploying the Global Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Program.
4. Implementation of the short and long term Facilities & Maintenance people strategy including competence program, talent and skills acquisition, retention and development.
5. Achieve the expected maturity for the function, plan and deliver the transformation to achieve required levels of maturity.
6. Accountable for implementing the standards (one GKNA process) and KPIs for the Facilities & Maintenance function. Implement a layered process audit system to provide governance for the Facilities and Maintenance standards.
7. In collaboration with Regional Head of ME and Global Head of Advanced ME contribute to the definition of machinery & equipment standards.
8. Deliver Facilities & Maintenance savings in line with year on year conversion cost targets.
9. Develop technical solutions to complex problems, delivering a manufacturing industrialisation system that fulfils all stakeholder requirements including Safety, Quality, Productivity, Business case, Intellectual Property and Export Control Identify process and technological gaps, which will drive technology development initiatives (pull) into the development of operational excellence.
10. Lead engineering teams to deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational and Program goals.
11. Integrate with the broader GKN technology teams through the Global Technology Centres (GTCs) to ensure that value-added Technology and Industrialisation solutions compliment operational deliverables
Job Qualifications
Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
12. Significant previous maintenance management experience gained within either a manufacturing or service environment;
13. Thorough understanding of the Total Productive Maintenance philosophy;
14. Demonstrable experience of successful people leadership and development;
15. Advanced communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
