Job responsibilities
7. To provide leadership in a Neuro-disability service sharing responsibility with the other consultants attached to the service.
8. To line Manager and supervision for one associate specialist within the team including appraisals, discipline, allocation of work.
9. To share specialist knowledge through training for the workforce in childrens services.
10. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day to day allocation of work.
11. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.
12. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
13. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
14. To participate in, and contribute to the provision of high quality, resource effective, child centred clinical care and treatment, in accordance with the development and implementation of clinical governance, in a multidisciplinary environment.
15. To provide leadership and educational support and take responsibility for the comprehensive community training programme for career paediatric trainees.
16. To participate in Clinical Audit and governance programmes.
17. To liaise with other agencies and departments such as Social Services, Education, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Primary Care organisations.
18. To undertake outreach clinics and medicals at a special school for children with physical and emotional difficulties.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
19. MBBS or equivalent.
20. Full GMC registration.
21. Inclusion on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Paediatrics or within 6 months of attainment at the time of interview.
22. MRCP / MRCPCH by examination (or equivalent)
Desirable
23. Higher degree e.g. MSc, MD or other higher degree DCH, DCCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas
24. CCT in Neuro-disability
Professional Experience
Essential
25. Some General Professional Training in Paediatrics
26. Extensive experience in Higher Specialist Training, including 3 years in Community Paediatrics
27. Experience of working with children with special needs.
28. Experience of assessing children with neuro-disabilities and neuro-developmental.
29. To be able to demonstrate high quality evidence based practice in the field of neurodevelopmental conditions.
Desirable
30. CCT in Community Paediatrics
31. Experience in undertaking assessments for Looked after children
32. Specialist experience in named safeguarding role
33. Training in Autism assessment e.g. DISCO or ADI/ADOS/3DI Undertaken
