Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity within the Facilities team, working as a chef at Chepstow Community Hospital.
The post holder will work as part of a team that provides catering duties throughout the catering operation. They will assist with the day-to-day supervision and organisation of these services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is confident to work on their own initiative, possessing flair and enthusiasm as well as being self-motivated and able to empower the team.
You will be required to participate in a 4-week rota that includes the following shifts:
1. 07:00 - 13:30
2. 07:00 - 18:30
3. 10:30 - 18:30
Week 1 - 29 hours per week, Week 2 - 31.5 hours per week, Week 3 - 25.5 hours per week & Week 4 - 47.5 hours per week.
This post is Fixed Term for 12 months due to the needs of the service.
Main Duties of the Job
You will undertake delegated tasks from the Operational Services Managers. Amongst other things, you will be responsible for:
1. Planning team members' work schedules and resource requirements;
2. Co-ordinating the work of the team to ensure team goals are reached;
3. Production of all meals, snacks, salads, sandwiches for patients, staff, and visitors;
4. Production of specialised dietary requirements in accordance with the pre-agreed menu;
5. Liaising with nursing staff and Health Board dietitians regarding specialised dietary requirements;
6. Supervision of catering assistants regarding food preparation, regeneration, and food provision for customers;
7. Control of food safety and quality through continuous monitoring of food temperature and correct catering operation in accordance with Food Safety and Health & Safety procedures and good working practice.
Our services operate 24 hours a day over a 7-day period, which will require you to work unsociable hours including weekends & bank holidays.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
