Team Manager – Family Solutions Service, Mid Essex
Contract: Permanent, Full Time. Location: Chelmsford. Working Style: Fixed‑base worker. Salary: £55,892 to £69,241 per annum.
About the Role: Family Solutions is an intensive Early Help intervention service for families with multiple needs. The team comprises a practice supervisor, social worker and family workers, and works with families for up to 12 months. It follows a systemic, strength‑based approach to promote sustainable positive change.
Accountabilities
* Lead a team of social workers and family workers to deliver high‑quality professional services with positive outcomes.
* Accountable for individual performance, quality assurance, resources, and budgets.
* Provide professional and practice supervision, using tools to address underperformance and coaching to enhance practice quality.
* Develop individuals to maximise capability and performance across the team.
* Oversee and assure quality of family assessments and plans.
* Respond to complaints and other feedback from families in accordance with policy, fostering positive relationships.
* Lead inter‑agency collaborative work, establishing effective integrated approaches with partners, communities, and the voluntary sector.
* Develop training and tactical service delivery plans for the team.
* Provide advice and guidance for complex cases in line with legislative and organisational standards.
Experience and Qualifications
* Recognised social work qualification (Diploma, degree or Masters, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) with current registration with Social Work England.
* Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to relevant competency frameworks.
* Significant experience within a social care setting, handling challenging social and family situations.
* Experience supervising social workers/family workers, strong leadership and behavioural skills, able to build a highly performing, motivated team from diverse backgrounds.
* Experience working within a complex environment and leading change to deliver best practice.
* Developed strong relationships with partners and agencies to achieve joint objectives.
* Evidence of clear decision making to limit potential risks associated with intervention.
Additional Requirements: Must be mobile across Essex, with a valid driving licence and ability to meet travel requirements through a car or other means.
