The Role
Nottingham Girls' High School seeks a confident, well-organised and approachable Administrative Assistant (Registers and Pastoral Support) to support our Deputy Head Pastoral while the current postholder is on maternity leave. The key focus of the role is to:
* Maintain accurate daily attendance registers to meet legal and regulatory requirements
* To support the pastoral team, addressing pupil needs efficiently and effectively
* To provide efficient administrative support
Qualifications:
* A good general level of education to GCSE level
* Minimum of 5 GCSE's to include English and Maths
Experience needed:
* Working knowledge of MS Office systems, Word, Excel, Outlook and able to embrace and adapt to new technologies and processes
* Knowledge, understanding and experience of populating data systems, information gathering and analysis
* Experience of working in a customer service and/or facing role in an office or school environment
* Ideally, knowledge of SIMS net database

* Hands-on approach and willingness to support others
Key Responsibilities:
Registers & Attendance
* Monitor and update daily attendance registers using the lesson monitor system.
* Input absences, liaise with teaching staff and parents, and run attendance reports.
* Follow up on unexplained absences and missing marks.
* Input merits and sanctions into SIMS.
* Maintain the school's firebox with up-to-date staff and pupil lists.
Pastoral Support
* Act as the first point of contact for pupils visiting the general office.
* Provide administrative support to the School Nurse.
* Support the Deputy Head – Pastoral in addressing pupil needs.
General Administration
* Handle external enquiries via phone, email, and in person.
* Provide a professional and friendly reception service when needed.
* Perform general admin tasks including typing, data input, photocopying, and spreadsheet management.
* Maintain filing systems and input data into SIMS
* Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
* Monitor and reorder general stationery supplies.
* Provide support with any emergency evacuation situation (responsible for the fire box and maintenance and accuracy of pupil and staff nominal roles)

We have an attractive and open campus that sits between the Nottingham Arboretum and the Forest Recreation ground, well known for the Goose Fair. Parking is available on site and the school is centrally located with excellent public transport links, including a tram stop less than 500m from the school. Terms and conditions:
Contract: Fixed term (maternity cover), term time only plus 4 days
Salary FTE: £ 27,171 (pro rata £22,030)
Start date: Prov 15 October for a full handover with the postholder
Work pattern: Mon-Fri, 8am to 4pm
