Job Description:
About the Role:
We are seeking a committed, experienced, and motivated Supervising Senior Caseworker to join our specialist Immigration and newly formed Legal Aid team. This senior-level position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across our immigration practice. You will report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for managing your own complex immigration caseload while supervising, developing, and supporting a team of lawyers and caseworkers.
This is a dynamic role that combines technical legal expertise, mentoring, and operational oversight. You will lead by example in providing Legal Aid and private immigration services, fostering a culture of continuous learning, compliance, and compassion aligned with our firm’s values.
About Us:
At BPA Immigration Lawyers, we are dedicated to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable individuals and families navigating the UK immigration system. As a rapidly growing firm with a strong ethical foundation, we have launched a dedicated Legal Aid department focused on delivering expert, compassionate, and high-quality advice and representation.
Joining us as a Senior Caseworker with IAAS Supervisor status means more than casework — you’ll help shape the culture, standards, and direction of our Legal Aid services. You’ll supervise, manage legal risk, and contribute to impactful outcomes for clients, supported by a collaborative team.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
* Provide technical leadership and direct management to caseworkers, trainees, and solicitors.
* Manage a portfolio of Legal Aid and private immigration matters including:
* Asylum, human rights, detention work, victims of trafficking and torture, entry clearance appeals, judicial reviews, and tribunal cases.
* Oversee case allocation and capacity planning.
* Prepare and manage Legal Aid funding applications and documentation.
* Draft legal documents such as witness statements, representations, and bundles.
* Attend conferences, hearings, and court as required.
* Deliver internal training, support supervision standards, and ensure legal quality.
* Contribute to business development, networking, and marketing initiatives.
Key Skills Required:
* Practicing Certificate (clean and valid) and IAAS Level 2 Senior Caseworker accreditation (required at application).
* Proven supervisory experience and ability to manage caseworker performance and KPIs.
* Excellent knowledge of immigration, asylum, detention, and public law.
* Strong understanding of Legal Aid funding, billing, and compliance.
* Exceptional client care skills, especially with vulnerable clients.
* Collaborative leadership with a focus on training and mentoring.
* Solid advocacy experience is advantageous.
* Proficiency in IT and case management systems.
* Experience with advocacy in immigration tribunals.
* Experience in private client immigration or adoption matters.
* Familiarity with audit processes, capacity reporting, and team performance monitoring.
