Your Role
Amber Labs is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior DevOps Specialist to join our team on a high-impact government transformation programme. This role involves building and supporting secure, scalable infrastructure for a mission-critical digital service used across the UK and internationally.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior DevOps Specialist, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll work closely with agile development teams to ensure seamless integration, automation, and performance across the platform.
Responsibilities
* Build and manage infrastructure using AWS, Terraform/CloudFormation, and Packer
* Administer Linux environments and configure Nginx for secure, high-performance delivery
* Support CI/CD pipelines and agile development workflows
* Collaborate using Git, Jira, Confluence, and other tooling
* Apply non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as cost, scalability, and availability to infrastructure decisions
* Lead containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker and Kubernetes
* Integrate and manage HashiCorp tools (Consul, Vault, Packer)
* Contribute to platform strategy and long-term architectural decisions
Your Skills and Experience
* Strong background in AWS infrastructure and automation
* Proficiency with Terraform or CloudFormation
* Linux administration and Nginx configuration
* Experience with Packer and Git-based workflows
* Agile mindset and CI/CD experience
* Ability to translate logical designs into physical infrastructure
* Understanding of NFRs and their impact on architecture
Senior-Level Must-Haves:
* Kubernetes and Docker expertise
* Hands-on experience with HashiCorp tools (Consul, Vault, Packer)
Nice to Have:
* Networking technologies and advanced cloud security practices
* Experience in government or regulated environments
