Role: Catering Assistant– 2 Posts
Salary: Grade A £13.05 an hour
Location: Derby Arena – Café 42
Hours: 10 hours a week

Derby Arena is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Catering Assistant/Cook to join our dynamic catering team.
This is a hand-on role ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering food & beverage service with consistency and care. Whether you're preparing or cooking fresh meals, supporting service, or maintaining kitchen hygiene, you'll bring poise and a calm, capable presence to every task.
What we are looking for
* Someone that is confidence in food preparation and cooking.
* Is competent in food hygiene & safety standards (minimum Level 2 Food Safety Certificate & HACCP knowledge)
* Ability to work under pressure & unsupervised.
* A team player with a positive attitude & a strong work ethic.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings & weekends.
* Physical stamina, be able to stand for long periods, complete a full commercial kitchen clean down and the ability to lift moderate weights.
Key responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a variety of light meals, snacks, and beverages to a high standard.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all areas, always following food, hygiene and health & safety regulations, including, but not limited to, proper storage, temperature control, and allergen awareness.
* Support stock rotation, assisting with ordering and restocking supplies.
* Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
* Provide friendly, efficient service to customers, including product knowledge and assist with dietary or allergen-related queries.
* Cater for events, buffets, parties, or sports tournaments held at the centre.
