Overview

Product Development Engineer role at TieTalent. Fulltime, Location: England - Preston. You will contribute your technical expertise to the Business Development Unit (BDU) Hot Water & Solar Solutions at our satellite centre based in Preston, UK. You\'ll play an integral part developing new products or improving existing products and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure user-focused product definition according to our group standards and core values.


Responsibilities

* To promote a safe working culture and take responsibility in maintaining zero LTIs (Lost Time Incidents) within the Office, workshop and testing environment.
* Create Validation plans to meet Detailed Product Request (DPR) requirements to comply with all UK and EU Regulations, Standards and Directives.
* Prepare test reports to be used by Internal stakeholders and external 3rd party approvals bodies.
* Assist in the generation and translation of product ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) into Project Design Approval, satisfying the product specification requirements and meeting performance and reliability business requirements.
* Take design briefs from 2D drawings/3D models and create working prototypes for internal and external assessment and evaluation.
* Plan and prioritise own workload to achieve product support within agreed timescales, meeting all design requirements of the agreed departmental product plans.
* Maintain accurate records on all research, product testing and development in accordance with departmental and ISO 9001 procedures, ensuring all data is correctly filed and traceable.
* Present concepts, prototypes and models to Stakeholders, Project teams and 3rd Party Approvals Bodies.


Communication and Skills

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the role involves coordination with other departments. A high level of ability to achieve results within demanding timescales, costs and specifications is essential. Company language is English, so this must be the first language for the applicant; a second language such as French, Slovakian or Turkish would be advantageous. You will regularly communicate with multi-functional core team members and all areas of the business, including Marketing, Purchasing, Production, Design, Customer Services and Manufacturing Engineering, using influencing skills to progress actions and decisions.


Your Knowledge, Skills, Experience And Character Include

* The jobholder must possess an engineering qualification to degree/HND/HNC level or equivalent experience.
* A basic electrical understanding is a must.
* A good understanding of workshop practices, including welding, brazing, turning, sheet metalwork and mill work would be advantageous.
* Some knowledge of heat transfer through materials, especially stainless steel.
* A good understanding of UK Building and Water Regulations.
* At least 3 years\' experience in an R&D Lab capacity with related products or in a similar industry would be advantageous.
* This role would suit a test engineer who would like to develop further.
* Demonstrates commitment to CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
