About the Job

Part Time - 0.83 FTE (30.71 hours per week)

Interview Date: w/c 26 January 2026

As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate law courses.

You will contribute to a broad range of modules within the Law curriculum, with particular emphasis on:

1. Intellectual Property Law
2. Commercial and Business Law
3. Practice-focused modules, such as those relating litigation and ADR

An ability to support teaching on other core subjects such as Land Law would be advantageous, as would experience of legal practice/a practising certificate.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, as a Senior Lecturer you will be expected to:

4. Lead modules and provide course leadership, helping to ensure that the School delivers high-quality courses and an excellent student experience
5. Lead on curriculum development and innovation
6. Engage in research and scholarly activity aligned with the School’s strategic priorities

About You

You will have:

7. An academic background in law
8. Expertise in one or more of the priority subject areas outlined above
9. Demonstrable course and module leadership experience
10. A track record of innovation in your approach to teaching and learning
11. A commitment to research, publication and interdisciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

Essential;

12. Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
13. Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Desirable;

14. Master’s degree in relevant subject
15. Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
16. Relevant professional qualification

You’ll be joining the School of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice at an exciting time. With a newly launched LLM in Social Justice and plans to diversify the portfolio of law courses offered, there is huge opportunity to develop your teaching portfolio with the School.

The School of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice is part of the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL). FBL is a multi-disciplinary Faculty which not only offers the full breadth of business expertise, ranging from Business Systems to HR to Strategy and International Business to Marketing, but also encompasses Law, Events, Tourism and Hospitality, Accounting and Finance, Criminology and Criminal Justice. This offers opportunities for colleagues and teams to engage in activities which deliver social impact not only in relation to business and industry, but also with regards to the public sector, third sector and our local and wider communities.
