Location: Main office location – Croydon, London. 1 day/week in our other office- Fleet Street, City of London\nEmployment Type: Full-time, Permanent/Hybrid\nSalary: DOE\nStart date: October 2025\nAbout our company:\nTrading as emap for its B2B division, Metropolis International is a fast-growing business, privately owned Media Group with over £50m of annual revenue, structured in two divisions – consumer media, and business-to-business media. In both parts of the business, we run print magazines, digital content and both face-to-face and virtual awards, conferences, and other events.

Metropolis is actively looking at acquiring more media businesses. We employ over 480 people in offices in Croydon, Fleet street and Dublin.\nOverall Purpose of the Role:\nEstablishing singular, structured procedures across the credit control\nEstablish the required structure across all locations to maximise efficiency, synergies, and best practice.\nIntegrate new acquisitions, consistent with best practice and uniformity with existing Group practice.\nManage credit control teams at Croydon and Fleet Street which are headed by team leaders.\nResponsibilities:\nManaging teams per Direct Reports across multiple sites in uniform best practice\nMinimise DSO days\nUniform KPI monitoring and review\nReduce overdue and Bad Debt\nRun an aged debt and incorporate in the monthly board pack.\nSet monthly credit controllers targets and report on results for both the staff and payroll.\nReview and approval all credit notes, refunds, and bad debt requests.\nRun quarterly debt reviews with each credit controller\nProduce the quarterly bad debt provision\nEscalation of issues to senior management as necessary and appropriate.\nEffect cost savings\nTo ensure that the Company processes and policies in relation to Debtors and representation in the Company accounts is accurate and appropriate in all circumstances, referring matters to the Group Finance Director, Group Financial Controller whenever necessary.\nAdherence to all relevant regulatory accounting principles.\nTo adhere to Company policies including the Anti-Bribery and Corruption policy.\nTo carry out any other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time.\nKey Results Areas:\nAchievement of agreed DSO targets.\nAchieve Aged Debt target.\nBad Debt write-off maintained within agreed targets.\nReviewing and verifying validity refunds for approvals.\nPersonal Specifications and Competencies:\nManagement Skills:\nAbility to manage, mentor and develop teams across multiple sites\nAble to recruit and retain key personnel.\nImplement change and integration of acquisitions.\nManage relationships with internal senior management\nInterpersonal Skills:\nStrong influencing skills with the ability to influence and negotiate for time and resources at all levels including Divisional Managing Directors\nEvidence of success in building and managing relationships within all functions of the business.\nEvidence of success in prioritising and dealing with high level sensitive information and enquiries and taking appropriate action on a regular basis.\nOrganisational awareness with the ability to operate with confidence and credibility across all functions of the Company.\nIT, Administrative and Organisational Skills:\nExtensive knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Powerpoint with the ability to create presentations at an advanced level.\nExcellent planning, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and to demonstrate an effective and resourceful approach to addressing issues.\nJudgement and Analysis:\nSound judgement with the ability to interpret, analyse and disseminate complex, sensitive information.\nA strong understanding of business and organisational risk and the ability to analyse situations and apply judgement on decisions.\nAwareness of the Company’s reputation, finance or legal position.\nInitiative:\nResourceful and purposeful, with initiative, drive and a strong desire to deliver exceptional results.\nA team player both internally and externally.\nCommunication skills:\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and explain management information clearly to a variety of audiences.\nOther Special Requirements:\nNecessary education/qualifications:\nCredit management qualification from recognised industry body.\nSubstantial management experience of Credit Control & Billing functions.\nMedia and / or experience in large groups with multi entity / multi divisional structures desirable\nWhat we offer\nLearning & Development:\nAt emap, we believe that employee learning and development are the key drivers of our success.
