My client is a leading manufacturer in the Heat Treatment industry. They are seeking a skilled Workshop Manager with extensive knowledge of the industry to lead their team and help grow a small, family-run business.
Responsibilities - Workshop Manager
1. Manage a team of 3 to meet customer requirements
2. Plan, communicate, and execute production schedules
3. Prepare equipment such as vacuum furnaces and ensure production settings are accurate
4. Perform ‘hands-on’ work like loading and unloading furnaces as needed
5. Manage works orders using the production system and ensure accurate cost recording
6. Handle customer communication regarding work completion and provide technical input for sales quotes or new jobs
7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet quality standards
8. Work with the line manager and sales manager to drive sales and efficiency improvements
Minimum Skills & Experience - Workshop Manager
1. Experience in the heat treatment industry
2. 3-5 years of experience working with metals
3. Background in a production manufacturing environment
4. Experience with quality management standards (minimum ISO 9001)
5. Understanding of engineering drawings, projections, and tolerances
6. Excellent communication skills for internal and external interactions
7. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
8. Proficiency in IT and ERP systems
9. Relevant team leadership or supervisory experience
10. Self-driven team player with good interpersonal skills
