We’re looking for a dynamic Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join a global, plastics manufacturing business in Castleford. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll have the autonomy to make a real impact — developing best-in-class EHS programmes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance across all areas of their operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
* Lead site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring proactive identification of hazards and non-conformances.
* Drive incident investigations to true root cause and develop corrective and preventive actions.
* Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, identifying trends and leading improvement initiatives.
* Deliver engaging EHS training and awareness programmes across all levels of the organisation.
* Support the integration of EHS considerations into operational and strategic projects.
* Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices to maintain ongoing compliance.
About You
You’ll be a confident and proactive EHS professional who leads by example and thrives on driving positive change.
* Qualification in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
* Professional certification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation, standards, and compliance frameworks.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills across all levels.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and deliver actionable insights.
* Experience within waste management or recycling operations.
* Understanding of EA (Environment Agency) permitting and compliance.
