Overview
This role as a Second Chef in a Care Home with Barchester Healthcare offers the opportunity to work with fresh seasonal food, have a better work-life balance, and make a meaningful impact. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavoursome menus while delivering high-quality, person-centred hospitality to the residents.
Key responsibilities
* Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen in their absence, including menu development and working with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes.
* Create a warm, efficient environment and ensure compliance with budgets and audits.
* Engage with residents to tailor menus to their preferences and needs.
* Work with fresh produce to deliver dishes cooked to the highest quality and standards.
* Maintain stock control and complete regular audits.
* Foster a warm, welcoming environment within the home and contribute to a team-focused culture.
Qualifications
* Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
* Good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh seasonal food.
* Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment for residents.
* Confident in engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
* Good understanding of HACCP.
