As a leading investment manager of Investment Trusts, Columbia Threadneedle Investments is seeking a qualified Accountant to support its range of Investment Trusts. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as the role will be client-facing, and ideally have experience in Investment Trust accounting practices and governance.
How you'll spend your time
Working closely with the Investment Trust Company Secretaries, with a focus on Financial Reporting (Revenue Forecasts, Budgets, etc.), preparing Interim and Year-end Accounts, financial board papers, and liaising with auditors.
1. Prepare annual and interim accounts, ensuring compliance with current standards and regulations.
2. Review month-end reconciliations, controls, and calculate monthly net asset values for submission to the AIC, ensuring deadlines are met.
3. Prepare and coordinate board papers, including portfolio schedules, transactions, liquidity, revenue forecasts, and collate schedules from the company secretary and investment managers.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with service providers such as auditors, lawyers, registrars, and printers.
5. Ensure client administration requirements are met according to management and secretarial agreements.
6. Understand and monitor client investment objectives, guidelines, regulation, and compliance issues.
7. Liaise with tax advisers for timely tax computations and review prior to submission to HMRC.
8. Prepare statutory returns, including VAT returns.
9. Maintain and update statutory information on Blueprint.
10. Attend Audit Committees and Board meetings as appropriate.
11. Stay updated on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the trusts.
To be successful in this role you will have

* Strong communication skills
* The ambition to progress towards a Company Secretarial role if the opportunity arises.
It would be advantageous if you also had
* Experience in Investment Company financial reporting.
* Experience presenting at Investment Trust Board and Audit Committee meetings.
