2. Lead the development and lifecycle planning of standard and optional product configurations, ensuring commercial viability and market relevance
3. Create annual plans and budgets for engineering support across product development, customer projects, aftermarket initiatives, and cost reduction
4. Set clear technical and commercial product targets based on competitive market analysis to maximise margin and sales performance
5. Drive engineering change by coordinating requirement reviews, impact assessments, and cost analysis, ensuring efficient delivery of product updates
6. Report regularly on product strategy, progress against plans, budgets, and capacity to key internal stakeholders

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

We’re looking for a strategic thinker with strong technical foundations and excellent people skills. To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

7. A degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
8. Proven experience in technical or product management, ideally supported by a recognised management qualification
9. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for UK bus products
10. Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels
11. Sharp negotiation and conflict-resolution skills to manage complex, and sometimes competing, requirements
12. Experience in vehicle engineering, project delivery, cost control and budgeting
13. A methodical, organised and disciplined approach, combined with the tenacity to drive results and the diplomacy to align diverse viewpoints
14. A willingness to quickly develop in-depth knowledge of the bus industry, products, markets and customers

Bonus points if you also have:

15. Formal qualifications in product or project management
16. Membership of relevant professional bodies
17. Prior experience in the bus or wider public transport sector

WHY JOIN OUR TEAM:

18. Generous salary package – we reward our people at the level they deserve.
19. A 37-hour working week, with flexible working options, giving you that much needed work/life balance.
20. Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.
21. Annual leave entitlement which increases with tenure.
22. Pension scheme to help you save for the future.
23. Access to our Employee Assistance Programme which offers practical, impartial support on issues impacting your life.
24. Cycle to work scheme.

OUR WHY:
