Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Patient Choice Advisor to join the Single Point of Access Team (SPA) at the Northern General Hospital.
Main responsibilities
* Provide patients with choices of service providers and manage referrals with ownership for excellent patient experience.
* Serve as single point of contact for Sheffield Teaching Hospital staff, GP practices and Secondary Care Providers, handling enquiries sensitively, confidentially, effectively, and timely.
* Manage booking of clinic appointments, offering choice of location/date/time to meet patient needs and achieve a positive outcome.
* Administer booking on SystmOne and Connect, generate appointment letters, patient information, and reschedule if necessary.
* Handle a high volume of inbound/outbound calls for services such as Therapy, continence, District Nurses, Phlebotomy, Long Term Conditions, heart failure, Active Recovery, COPD, Hospital at Home, Urgent Community Response.
* Perform general administration duties: post, registration of referrals, data collection, accurate and timely data entry, word processing, and prioritising own workload.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (A-C/4-9 in English & Maths) or equivalent experience.
* NVQ level 3 in Business Administration/Customer Care or equivalent qualification.
* OCR Word Processing Level II or equivalent.
* ECDL or equivalent.
Further Training
* General knowledge of the NHS.
Experience
* Extensive and relevant experience in administration duties in NHS or similar organisation.
* Excellent patient/customer care skills.
* Effective written and verbal communication.
* Experience dealing with a high volume of telephone enquiries.
* Experience using data and/or databases.
* Understanding basic medical terminology, anatomical and clinical terms.
* Excellent organisational skills aligning with directorate priorities and timescales.
