Traffic Controller – Nights (Water Recycling)
Cambridge, CB4 – Permanent – 4 on 4 off (12‑hour night shifts). Pay: circa £35,897 inc. night shift allowance.
Job Overview
At Anglian Water we require a Traffic Controller to plan and control our LGV resources and equipment. The role is critical to respond to routine and non‑routine emergency operations, sludge and skip haulage, and to support the transport of water‑recycling by‑products from treatment centres to farmers. The position also helps minimise flooding and pollution by proactively jetting sewer lines.
Responsibilities
* Schedule the weekly workload for routine and non‑routine sludge haulage operations.
* Liaise with drivers and contractors, maintain driver‑availability information and record daily sickness.
* Instruct drivers and ensure they follow all procedures and legislation, including operator licence requirements for planning, scheduling and control, fleet and record‑keeping.
* Ensure compliance with driving and vehicle‑operation laws.
* Maintain vehicles, trailers and hired equipment in a fit and serviceable condition and record any unplanned downtime.
* Input accurate load data into the database in a timely manner.
Qualifications
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* Excellent IT skills – Microsoft Office suite essential; experience with a CRM or database system is an asset.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Resilience and the ability to challenge and question stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
* High attention to detail.
* Previous traffic‑controller or general logistics experience desirable; full training will be provided if required.
