Immersive Technology in the UK’s Public Sector
Public First has collaborated with Meta and techUK to produce a comprehensive report on the immersive tech sector across the UK. The research is based on independent findings from industry workshops held in Bristol, Glasgow, and Manchester, alongside new public opinion polling and expert interviews.
The report identifies barriers to adoption and offers policy recommendations to enable the UK to leverage immersive technology effectively across three key sectors: education, healthcare, and urban planning.
Highlights:
* Overall, 59% of UK adults believe the public sector could benefit from increased investment in immersive technology, rising to 67% among 25-34 year olds.
* Education & Skills: 34% of UK adults are excited about using immersive technologies to enhance learning. Recommendations include improving digital infrastructure and training teachers and providers.
* Healthcare: 31% are excited about using immersive tech for training surgeons, such as in brain surgery. Recommendations include establishing a national XR vision for healthcare and appointing XR champions in NHS Trusts.
