We are looking to recruit a new Programme Lead for our Infrastructure Planning team, to work as part of the council's Sustainable Transport and Highways service. Our work contributes to improving connectivity and resilience in line with our Local Transport Plan, the Cumbria Transport Infrastructure Plan, and is a key enabler to make sure Westmorland and Furness is a great place to live, work and thrive.
Programme of Work
* Prioritising and developing transport proposals for development and delivery
* Transport appraisal and impacts assessment
* Supporting spatial strategy and a new Local Plan
* Shaping transport policies and projects to support economic growth and the environment
* Technical advice on major cross-discipline projects, including the council’s groundbreaking work as part of Team Barrow
Responsibilities
As a Programme Lead, you will be responsible for one or more of these programmes of transport work. You will provide leadership and direction for these projects, and work with stakeholders, senior officers and elected members to provide expert advice and secure delivery funding. You will also manage and work with technical specialists in external consultancies.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for people with experience and knowledge in areas such as transport planning, transport appraisal, town planning or project management, and who want to make a difference by improving transport for residents, visitors and businesses in Westmorland and Furness. If you have experience in these areas, or in a related area of work, and a relevant degree-level qualification, we would be delighted to hear from you.
