Role Overview
Senior Site Ecologist – Winchester, M3 Junction 9, part of Balfour Beatty Highways. Key role in ecological management on infrastructure project.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the project Environmental Manager.
* Lead delivery of project ecological requirements and implement ecological management plans.
* Build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients, design teams and internal teams.
* Ensure site compliance with ecological legislation and coach construction teams in applying controls and mitigating risks.
* Lead investigations and report on ecological incidents.
* Provide pragmatic advice and site support to operational teams on ecological requirements.
Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of ecological management and mitigation.
* Excellent understanding of ecological legislation for development.
* Good level of commercial awareness.
* Full driver’s licence and flexibility to travel.
* Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites.
* Good understanding of utilities/construction/engineering operating environment.
* Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
* Experience working on large scale infrastructure construction projects.
* Degree or Masters level in Ecology or related subject.
* At least one protected species survey licence, preferably hazel dormouse or bat level 1 or 2.
* Full CIEEM Membership.
