Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the established greater Manchester specialist support team working alongside key stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance community provision for people who are autistic or who have a learning disability.

You will provide high quality consultation, specialist assessment and intervention to deliver effective, person centred clinical services for people who have come into contact or are at risk of contact with the criminal justice agencies.

Main duties of the job

The Greater Manchester Specialist Support team is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of nursing, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work, psychology and psychiatry. You will be expected to work in all areas of Greater Manchester and liaise with a number of partner agencies including health, social care and the Criminal Justice agencies to develop proactive and preventative risk mitigation support. You will be required to work primarily 9-5, Monday to Friday and will be required to support the 24 hour on-call Rota.

* Registered Nurse learning disability or Mental Health
* Registration with relevant professional body
* Master's Degree (or experience and knowledge that is equivalent).
Desirable
* Post registration training in a therapeutic / intervention approach (e.g., in a specific psychological therapy such as CBT, CAT, Applied Behavioural Analysis and Intervention
* Forensic Risk Assessment (RSVP, HCR-V3)
Knowledge Essential
* A minimum of 4 years post registration working with people with learning disabilities who offend
* Experience working with staff teams, providing consultancy and clinical supervision.
* Experience of working with service users who have learning disabilities an complex needs (risk of offending).
* Experience in the use of forensic risk assessment and management.
* Experience of Positive Behavioural Support and Person-Centred Planning.
* Experience of staff training and development.
* Experience of communicating with people on complex matters, issues and ideas and / or complex situations.
* A good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, DOLs, Safeguarding and the legal frameworks applicable to working with offenders in a community setting
* Experience of supervising staff.
* Knowledge of commissioning and procurement arrangements within local areas.
* Knowledge of the structure, roles and responsibilities within health and social care provision and the criminal justice agencies.

* Experience working within a community-based service.
* Experience of service development and evaluation, for example project work, audit and research
* In depth understanding of the Criminal Justice Process.
