In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a market data enrichment strategy, collaborating with key business stakeholders, and managing contract negotiations and supplier relationships. As our new Data Acquisition Lead, you’ll be responsible for:
1. Data Acquisition Strategy: Develop, implement, and own a comprehensive, business enabling data acquisition strategy ensuring that our business has access to the right data.
2. Collaborate: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand data needed to deliver appropriate solutions, steer where required to achieve the market data enrichment strategy.
3. Data Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and acquire relevant data sets from trusted external sources.
4. Budget management: Proactively manage data enrichment budget, and drive business efficiency improvements.
5. Partnerships and negotiation: Establish and maintain partnerships with data providers, automotive manufacturers, insurance companies, and other key stakeholders. Negotiate mutual agreement based on monetary or other value.
6. Data Ecosystem: In collaboration with Data Value Management, oversee the integration of acquired data into our data ecosystem, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
7. Compliance: Work with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all data acquisition and usage comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
8. Value: Ensure data/service usage and pricing is accurately recorded and the business value is understood. Manage demand pipeline and have a forward-looking view of data set requirements.
Skills & experience that will set you up for success in this role:
Essential skills:
1. Proven business acumen with experience of defining strategy through to successful execution.
2. Understanding of working with Data as a Product component for business value extraction.
3. Strong vendor (supplier) management and budget management skills.
4. Experience of identifying and sourcing data to meet business needs.
5. Experience working with legal and commercial aspects of vendor data licenses and contracts.
6. Persuasive communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
7. Ability to translate business requirements into the language of Data and vice versa.
Desirable skills:
These are desirable skills or experience and are not essential, so we welcome applications from candidates who do not meet all these additional criteria:
1. Previous experience as a Data Product Manager, Senior Business Analyst, Senior Business Systems Analyst, Data Procurement Lead, or Data Strategist.
2. Creative thinking to identify new data sources and methods for data acquisition.
3. Knowledge of data acquisition tools, data integration platforms, and data analytics software.
4. Knowledge of automotive and insurance sectors.
