Job Overview

The Trust sets the Watercress Line's strategy and raises funds to further its charitable objectives.
WLHRT is seeking to recruit an additional Trustee with board-level responsibility for guiding and supporting the Watercress Line's fundraising team, led by the Line's Chief Executive Officer. This is a new role. The person selected will initially be co-opted onto the WLHRT Board and be encouraged to stand, at the WLHRT's next Annual General Meeting, for election to the Board for a three-year term.

* be interested in industrial heritage and in its broader educational, cultural and historic value,

* be willing to advocate for The Watercress Line itself and for railway preservation more generally, and
* lead and develop The Watercress Line's fundraising committee and its Charity Ambassadors' Group.
WLHRT Trustees are unpaid although they can claim expenses. They are asked to attend four WLHRT Board meetings a year, four joint meetings with the Mid Hants Railway Board, and the Annual General Meeting. There is a need to study Board papers and to work voluntarily in furtherance of individual Board-level responsibilities.
The reward comes from being part of The Watercress Line 'family', the group of several hundred people - most of them volunteers - who run a complex heritage railway for the benefit of wider society.
