Project Planner Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in Bristol office (flexible working otherwise) Contract: 12 months, outside IR35 Hourly Rate: Negotiable Security Clearance: BPSS required Reports to: Lead Planner Export Control Restrictions: No About the Role We are looking for a Project Planner to join the Project Management Office team on a 12-month contract, outside IR35, working hybrid with two days per week in our Bristol office. The Project Planner will be a key member of the project delivery team and will be accountable for the development and maintenance of work package schedules. Acting as the planning and scheduling subject matter expert (SME), you will support the team in building robust work package schedules that capture 100% of the work scope and are compliant with SMR planning processes and guidelines. Once a fit-for-purpose schedule is established, you will be responsible for updating schedules in line with work progress, analysing schedule data, monitoring baseline versus forecast dates, and advising the project team on corrective actions as needed. Key Responsibilities * Develop, maintain, and update detailed work package schedules that capture all aspects of the project scope * Act as the planning and scheduling SME, coaching and mentoring the project team to ensure schedule maturity and compliance with processes * Analyse schedule performance, comparing baseline and forecast dates to identify risks, issues, and potential delays * Provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and corrective action planning * Contribute to the training and development of junior staff within the planning team * Support integration with wider programme schedules and ensure alignment with the Master Integrated Plan (MIP) or Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) * Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Manufacturing Key Results & Achievements * Delivery of mature, robust, and fit-for-purpose schedules * Continuous improvement in schedule construction and maturity * Effective coaching, mentoring, and training of team members and wider business stakeholders Knowledge, Skills & Experience Team Leadership & Coaching (Low Priority – ~15%) * Experience working in a planning team environment * Experience coaching, mentoring, and training junior staff Integrated Programme Planning (High Priority – ~25%) * Knowledge of Master Integrated Plans (MIP) or Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and associated milestone schedules * Experience working with key stakeholders across multiple functions Project Controls & Tools (Medium Priority – ~20–25%) * Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Primavera P6 (front-end scheduling and architecture: WBS, resource dictionary, coding, user-defined fields) * Knowledge and experience of Earned Value Management (EVM), change control, and baseline management Technical Knowledge (Low Priority – ~15%) * Experience working in the nuclear sector or on complex engineering programmes (desirable) * Understanding of engineering design maturity processes
