The role: Fabric Technician
The purpose of our Engineering Technician (Fabric) is to support the Supervisor by providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites, in accordance with laid-down procedures and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering the physical workplace experience in one or multiple customer locations.
* Maintaining high standards of HSE, ensuring a secure workplace, controlling costs, driving service improvements, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
* Building and sustaining effective relationships within the customer organization.
* Ensuring compliance with all processes, procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards, and health & safety systems.
* Providing planned and reactive maintenance, including general building fabric and plumbing tasks as per the fabric competency matrix.
* Supporting projects and refit initiatives by helping identify, scope, and deliver uplift and refit projects.
* Completing risk assessments and documentation before work, reporting risks or defects, and maintaining Site Activity Log Books.
* Participating in an Emergency Call Out Service as per the Out of Hours Rota.
* Supporting the development of colleagues, including technicians and apprentices.
* Undertaking the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and supporting other APs and CPs.
* Understanding and following environmental policies to support business objectives.
Person Specification:
* Competence in building fabric tasks such as plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing, and decorating.
* Ability to organize and oversee small teams for fabric projects.
* Knowledge of all relevant HSE and environmental requirements.
* Diligent with a keen eye for quality and detail, with a proactive approach to customer needs.
* Ability to challenge established practices constructively and implement new approaches.
* Proven experience in a building trade or fabric role.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards related to the role, including manual handling, legionella, PASMA, IPAF, asbestos awareness, and roof working.
Desirable qualifications include a Level 3 or equivalent building fabric qualification, such as an NVQ, BTEC, or apprenticeship, and a full UK driving license.
