Job description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspecting, recording, and documenting earthworks processes for quality assurance.
2. Inspecting the workmanship and quality of delivered works.
3. Recording details of quality in accordance with specifications, ITP, and Quality Management System documentation.
4. Supporting in-situ testing, liaising with the site lab and Quality Manager.
5. Identifying defects, stopping works if necessary, and resolving issues with the support of the team, including raising and closing out Non-conformance Reports (NCRs).
6. Assisting in the production of QA documents such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and reviewing design and construction documents for quality aspects.
7. Reviewing classification of excavated material to ensure compliance with specifications.
8. Producing quality forms and checklists to ensure quality in earthworks and materials testing.
9. Collaborating with project management and engineering staff to enhance work quality and suggest improvements.
10. Liaising with designers, client supervisors, and Panel engineers as required.
11. Promoting health and safety on site and ensuring works are completed on schedule.
Job Requirements:
12. Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction (e.g., Degree/HNC or similar).
13. Experience with earthworks testing procedures.
14. Beneficial experience as a CQA Engineer.
15. Beneficial experience working on reservoirs, although not essential.
16. Knowledge of UKAS soils laboratory testing.
17. Proactivity in addressing and resolving non-conformance testing results.
18. Excellent record-keeping skills, preferably with knowledge of the AutoDesk Construction Cloud Platform.
19. Strong communication skills for discussing technical aspects with both technical and non-technical individuals.
20. Good understanding of the Specification for Highway works.
21. Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, Materials Engineer, or Quality Engineer, with knowledge of groundworks, earthworks, material testing, and the reuse of excavated material.
22. Good understanding of quality within the construction process.
23. Relevant qualifications including CSCS Card.
24. Strong knowledge of HSQE regulations.
25. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programmes.
26. High attention to detail.
27. Self-motivated, capable of working both in a team and independently.
28. Prepared for site-based hours and UK travel, including overnight stays where required.
29. Full UK Driving Licence required.
30. Committed and reliable with a good team-working ethic.
