PAY RATE:
£14.44 per hour
HOURS:
40 hrs per week, 4 on 2 off, consisting of early and late shifts.
Early shift starts at 0700, late shift starts at 1200.
THE ROLE:
To provide enhanced safety and security for passengers through reassurance, vigilance, enforcement of byelaws on conditions of carriage, and delivery of mandatory checks.
Provide high-quality customer service including wayfinding, travel information, and support during events; undertake revenue inspection to protect fare revenue, involving ticket and pass validation and the issuing of standard fares.
This role is 60% revenue duties and 40% security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Actively engage with customers and colleagues while patrolling the network to increase feelings of safety.
* Take appropriate action in dealing with and helping to prevent physical and verbal assaults on staff and customers, in conjunction with the local police when necessary.
* Conduct revenue inspections and enforcement activities as directed, using customer-issued devices.
* Assist in tackling crime, anti-social behaviour, and public order offences on the transport network.
* Support the prosecution process where applicable.
* Prevent unauthorised access to the network.
* Operate within the law at all times, using only reasonable force when necessary, including removal of individuals refusing to comply.
* Perform duties proactively and ensure personal safety, calling for assistance or police support if needed.
* Book on and off duty at designated locations as agreed.
* Use body-worn CCTV to record incidents requiring intervention.
* Adhere to training and protocols for radio communication equipment, ensuring its security and proper use.
* Record all incidents and activities appropriately.
SKILLS:
* Experience in a security role.
* Strong observational and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
* Excellent attention to detail and adherence to protocols.
* Professional demeanor with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
* Current SIA Frontline Licence.
INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:
* Eligibility documents: Passport or Full Birth Certificate; Utility Bill (current address, dated within 3 months); Proof of National Insurance (NI card, P45, P60, benefits letter, or HMRC letter). No payslips.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* 5-year checkable employment history, including education or benefits receipt.
* Must pass police Level 2 non-personal vetting for the CSAS scheme.
