Senior Project Manager – GIS (Utilities) – Contract – Ref: 25069 – Howard Lock Consulting Ltd
Pay: £650 - £700 per day (outside IR35)
Location: South Coast, UK – Hybrid working (1‑2 days on site)
Duration: 3 months initially (12‑month project)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Project Manager to lead and deliver a GIS (Geographic Information System) implementation within the UK utilities sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex projects, particularly in the GIS space, and will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Experience in the UK utilities sector is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of GIS projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
* Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets.
* Coordinate cross‑functional teams, including technical, operational, and business stakeholders.
* Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring successful delivery.
* Engage with stakeholders to support the Business Analyst in gathering and documenting business requirements.
* Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management.
* Support testing, validation, and post‑implementation review activities.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the project team.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager, ideally with some UK utilities sector (water highly desirable)
* Demonstrated experience delivering at least one GIS implementation.
* Familiarity with asset management or asset information systems.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
* Experience working in hybrid project environments (on‑site and remote).
* Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Must be able to start immediately.
* Must be comfortable working on‑site on the south coast 1‑2 days per week.
* Experience in the UK water sector.
* Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance frameworks within utilities.
* Background in digital transformation or data‑driven projects.
