Stirling Dynamics is recruiting Loads and Aeroelastics Engineers to join the Control, Simulation and Dynamics group. We are looking for both permanent employees and contractors. The capability group is responsible for all modelling and analysis capabilities including system performance, control theory, fluid dynamics and structural dynamics. The Loads and Aeroelastics sub team carry out diverse activities including: Computation of ground loads and flight loads Vibration analysis Flight physics activities Support to certification Prediction and analysis of flutter Landing gear shimmy analysis Landing gear shock absorber design Load alleviation functions The team work on an array of different projects, including concept phase trades, equipment and aircraft design activities, through to certification activities and ground and flight test support. We work for large aerospace OEMs on established programmes and for smaller start-ups including the emerging area of eVTOLs and urban air mobility. You will be responsible for work in the loads and aeroelastics field as part of a project team. You will be expected to: Build/develop and verify models for the purposes of generating aircraft loads as part of the design process Support testing, through writing of test requirements, test procedures and analysing test data Model validation and calibration Write technical reports detailing the work performed Contribute to the development of in-house loads tools Support multiple tasks/projects and deliver within agreed timescales and budgets Interact with internal and external customers on a technical and programme level Deliver engineering solutions at a consistently high standard (self-checking results) Follow the working practices defined in the project Quality Plan and company procedures Ensure given tasks achieve their full objectives Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a related discipline (Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering) Post-graduate qualification to a Master’s degree or Doctorate in a relevant specialisation (desirable) Demonstrable understanding of modal analysis with application within an aerospace field Use of software tools in modal analysis (Nastran, Ansys, etc) Use of Matlab language and environment for analysis Clear, concise and accurate technical reporting within Microsoft Word Attention to detail and the discipline to self-check result To enjoy working within a team environment Willingness to embrace change and to implement new processes EXCEL and use for computations and analysis PowerPoint and the presentation of technical information Simulink/simscape/multibody Fortran Python Line management General industrial experience within aerospace, maritime or defence engineering environment Knowledge of (any) aerospace standards EASA: CS23, CS25, CS27, CS29, FAA FAR23, FAR25, FAR27, FAR29, ARP 4754A, DO-331 Experienced stakeholder manager, able to lead project reviews and generate effective reporting Line management experience (of at least one other) – Desirable Competitive package - Grade 3-4 with a salary banding of £30,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience.
