Start your career in Network Engineering and help shape the future of global connectivity. As part of BT Group, you'll support the networks that connect the UK - powering everything from customer homes to emergency services.

About Networks

Our Networks unit designs, builds and runs the technology platforms that BT and our customers rely on every day. Across fibre, mobile, WiFi and core networks, BT is recognised as a global leader in converged, automated and programmable network technologies.

We work across:

* Network strategy and transformation
* Modernising our mobile and fixed network assets
* Partnering with Enterprise, Global and Consumer on cutting edge products and experiences

We are responsible for keeping BT's networks reliable, resilient, secure, and ahead of future demand. Our engineers continue to innovate using network cloud, AI, virtualisation and advanced optical tech to evolve our world‑class global infrastructure. Put simply - we make the network work.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work alongside experienced engineers in our Fixed Networks division, contributing to the design, build and optimisation of large‑scale IP networks. You'll support major projects that keep millions of customers connected, learning how to diagnose complex issues, introduce new technologies and continuously improve performance across the UK network.

Day to Day Responsibilities

* Contribute to designing and testing networks that are secure, resilient and innovative.
* Work with colleagues to test and validate vendor configurations so they align with our design standards.
* Explore and evaluate new hardware platforms, line cards and software versions to ensure they perform reliably.
* Create and maintain clear documentation, including test plans, test cases and test scopes, to support wider teams.
* Help introduce automation that makes our work more efficient and reduces repetitive tasks.
* Review test results to identify any issues or risks and share these insights to support continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to make sure solutions are ready for real‑world deployment.

Qualifications

* Three A Levels at grade BCC or above (or equivalent).
* Five GCSEs at grade 4‑9 (C or above) including English and Maths.
* An interest in technology – even if you’re still building your confidence or experience.
* Curiosity about how networks work and a desire to help improve them.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills – we value people who enjoy learning with others.
* Openness to developing new skills, trying new things and growing through hands‑on experience.
* Motivation to build a long‑term career in digital and technology solutions, no matter your starting point.

BT Group was the world’s first telco, and our heritage in connectivity is unmatched. As home to BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet, we play a vital role in building the UK’s digital future.

Over the next two years, we will complete the UK’s largest full‑fibre rollout – reaching more than 25 million premises. Combined with major investment in 5G, we are transforming how people and businesses stay connected. We are also simplifying systems, processes and structures at scale. Through the use of AI, automation and cutting‑edge technologies, we’re shaping the next generation of customer experience and infrastructure. There has never been a more exciting time to join BT Group as we enter a new era of innovation.

A Few Points to Note

If you work flexibly, are part of a job share, or need alternative working arrangements, please still apply. We also offer reasonable adjustments throughout the selection process.

Don’t Meet Every Single Requirement? Research shows that women, LGBTQ+ candidates, ethnic minority candidates and people with neurodivergent conditions or health related needs may hesitate to apply unless they meet 100% of the criteria. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t perfectly match every point – your potential may be exactly what we’re looking for.

Benefits

* Big discounts on EE & BT products, including mobile and broadband
* 24/7 access to an online GP for you and your immediate family
* Market leading paid carer’s leave (up to 2 weeks)
* Enhanced women’s health support, including menopause care
* Support to shape your career path with extensive learning and development
* Volunteering days to support your community
* Optional Private Healthcare and Dental
