Job Title: Lecturer - Skills for Life (Maths/English); Location: Middleton, Greater Manchester; Job Type: Full-time; Hours: 24 teaching hours per week, additional hours for planning/admin to align with a 37-hour contract; Salary: £25-£35 per hour; Start Date: Immediate, subject to Enhanced DBS check.
Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Skills for Life Lecturer with a passion for supporting the educational journey of learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our ideal candidate will have a strong ability to deliver Functional Skills in English and/or Maths from Pre-Entry to Entry Level 3, which are essential components for our students\' futures.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons in English and/or Maths to learners with SEND.
* Develop differentiated lesson plans that cater to the varying needs and abilities of students.
* Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
* Assess and monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
* Implement strategies to support and encourage student retention and success.
* Work closely with support staff and other lecturers to ensure continuity and progression in learners’ education.
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
* Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the department.
* Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to the institution\'s goals.
* Comply with college policies, procedures, and safeguarding regulations.
Key Requirements
* Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
* Experience in teaching Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
* Proven experience working with learners with SEND/Additional Needs.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* Excellent classroom management skills.
* Ability to create and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of learners.
* Proficient in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
