Overview
Clinical Nurse Specialist – Children's Orthopedics is a hospital-based role within the Nottingham Children's Orthopedic team. The post involves conducting thorough nursing pre-assessments for children scheduled for orthopaedic procedures, educating and reassuring children, young people and their families about upcoming procedures, and supporting the child’s surgical journey in inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work as part of a dynamic, multi-professional team and have opportunities to develop your career as a nurse specialist within orthopedics.
Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough nursing pre-assessments for children scheduled for orthopaedic procedures.
* Provide education and reassurance to children, young people and their families about upcoming procedures.
* Work closely with children, parents, anesthetists, surgeons and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure each child is fully assessed, supported, and ready for surgery.
* Be a clinical and professional role model with a focus on delivering high-quality clinical care and supporting the development of others.
* Plan and organise own workload while being an effective team player; demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to teach families and health professionals.

Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Children's Nurse (NMC) with relevant experience in paediatrics/orthopaedics.
* Experience in pre-assessment clinics or related preoperative nursing duties is desirable.
* Strong communication and teaching skills; ability to educate families and health professionals.
* Ability to work in inpatient and outpatient settings and manage a workload independently while contributing to the team.
