Job Description
Major Recruitment is currently seeking a trainee acrylic fabricator for our prestigious client based in Normanton.
This is a trainee role suitable for candidates looking to develop new skills and interested in becoming a competent acrylic fabricator.
Ideally, you will have some experience in assembly, manufacturing, and machine operating. Training will include:
* Various acrylic fabrication techniques
* Operation of light machinery including saws, profilers, etc.
* Line bending of acrylics, bonding, and forming of acrylic sections
* Reading production drawings
The work is based at the company's Normanton manufacturing facility. Candidates must make their own travel arrangements to attend work at this location, which is on main bus routes. Free car parking is available.
The company operates a shift pattern requiring alternate periods of early starts (7:00 am to 3:30 pm) and late finishes (9:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, Fridays 7:00 am to 3:30 pm).
Overtime opportunities (including Saturday mornings until lunch) are normally available. During busy periods, all staff are expected to undertake a fair share of overtime, paid at time and a half.
Candidates must be of good character with basic educational standards of numeracy and literacy, along with a good standard of health. References may be required.
Desirable qualities include being reliable, flexible, willing to learn, and able to work shifts and overtime. Opportunities for progression may be available for the right candidate.
Primary duties include:
* Creating acrylic sign elements such as lettering and through-piercing
* Bonding acrylic materials to create 3-D sign forms
* Creating light-box units with acrylic display faces
* Producing signs and pictorials using these elements
The work is varied and often requires ideas and innovation.
Training will be provided, including health & safety and working systems. There may be an opportunity to complete a Level 2 NVQ in Signmaking for suitable candidates.
This is a temporary to permanent position for the right candidates.
