Entity Controller – Langley, UK
Travelport is a worldwide travel retail platform. We are looking for an entity controller to support accounting for our principal US operating companies and US‑based global technology business as part of the America GL team.
Responsibilities
* Management of month, quarter, and year‑end timetable, ensuring bottlenecks are resolved and escalating issues as appropriate; thorough review of trial balance, detailed revenue, cost of revenue, operating expense and balance sheet variance and trend analyses.
* Collaborate with the outsourced BPO partner and provide support to the team to achieve agreed objectives.
* Responsible for general ledger accounting for complex transactions within Travelport Americas, and direct the functional work of other team members as appropriate.
* Capable of deputizing for Finance Manager when required.
* Review, approve and/or prepare manual journal entries required to complete month‑end and annual accounts and to ensure the accuracy and timely posting of entries from sub‑ledgers and other entry sources.
* Perform analytical review during month‑end close to identify and correct accounting issues as they occur.
* Ensure that all accruals, prepayments and any other adjusting entries are booked as necessary with appropriate supporting documentation.
* Review, approve and/or prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts.
* Ensure control accounts are analyzed and cleared monthly.
* Review, approve and/or prepare monthly legal entity reporting packs providing balance sheet and P&L analysis and supporting commentary.
* Produce information required by external auditors, including that referred to in client schedules, and any other accounting documentation to satisfy audit requirements.
* Provide accurate financial accounting information and analysis to other interested parties including decision support, tax, controllership and senior management.
* Responsible for key control processes and compliance as it relates to controls assigned to these areas.
* Review and improve processes.
* Coordinate prepared‑by‑client list requests to the external audit timetable, working with the BPO to provide required documentation and acting as the key point of contact for auditor queries.
* Prepare financial statements of any legal entity and reply to audit questions.
* Respond promptly to all audit questions and items on the PBC list provided by auditors.
Qualifications
* Qualified or QBE accountant.
* Practical and proven accounting experience (4+ years) in a similar large multinational organization.
* High level of computer literacy including Excel spreadsheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs etc.), Word processing and experience with automated accounting systems; Oracle experience highly desirable.
* Exposure to US GAAP and SoX desirable, but not a requirement.
* Sound commercial awareness.
* Ability to work autonomously to deliver well‑defined outputs.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple organizations across time zones.
* Strong team player, able to demonstrate flexibility and resilience.
* Comfortable dealing with change, and a desire to continually improve processes.
